Living with addiction
Is a scary dark unknown,
Not perfectly mapped out:
It’s something you must learn.
Watching someone lose themselves
While climbing up those steps,
Is to watch them fall down again
Unable to bring themselves back.
Walking on without them,
Leaving them behind,
Is knowing others might see
These hardships that you find.
Living with addiction
And without a father
Is like living with something missing;
It teaches you no one has the same experience living.
