They’re different than me.

I don’t understand the differences I see-

Why their eyes are blue and mine are green.

I don’t understand the differences I see,

Because people are different than me

I don’t understand why her hair is coily  

And mine is straight

She says people don’t like hers,

But I think it’s great.

I don’t understand the way he speaks:

He has a different sound,

Which makes some people laugh

And that tears him to the ground.

I don’t understand the colors I see;

On each face is something new.

Walking down the street  

People’s color fills the view.  

I don’t understand the differences I see-

Why their eyes are blue and mine are green.

I don’t understand the differences I see,

Simply because people are different than me.
